HISTORY Original Owners - Eldredge family, built in 1903 4000 sq ft with 8 rooms Purchased in the early 1900s by Dr. Thomas McBride, one of Apopka's first practicing physicians. Dr. McBride passed away peacefully in the home in 1978. The Doctor claimed to have delivered over 3,000 babies. Purchased in the 1980s by the Townsend Family. Originally sat next to Apopka's oldest cemetery. Divided into four sections and slowly moved to its present location in 1985. The home was enlarged by more than 10,000 sq ft The Chapel was added in 1989 and considered the Carriage House. Dr. McBrides medical equipment & other surgical equipment, along with a genuine human skeleton could be seen when you walked into the Townsend Restaurant. Trisha, case manager for OPI, has actually seen them when having lunch at the location. Townsend's closed it doors in the late 1990s due to bankruptcy and foreclosure. CLAIMS A "Lady in white" said to be seen on the second floor or walking on the sidewalk or main driveway late at night.
