Paranormal Investigations 101
Looking to become a Paranormal Investigator?
Here is some basic information that may help you with your journey.
THE BASICS
Here are several types of Hauntings you may find during an investigation:

Residual Haunting:
A residual haunting is the most common type of haunting. I would probably describe it as a rerun of a past event. You may find Residuals play at a
certain time of day if not the exact time every time.  This activity is not intelligent, in fact, you will not receive any type of intelligent response when
investigating this type of haunt. Residual hauntings are basically stored energy.

Residual Haunts can be either Visual or Audio. Usually the sounds and images are related to traumatic events which took place at the location.  These
traumatic events create an impression of energy on the atmosphere of a particular place. Battlefields are highly known for Residual hauntings.

You will also find that Residual hauntings can be found in places where repetitiveness occurs. An example of this is a staircase in which the spirit when
living repeatedly walks up and down the stairs. The energy used in this action and the many times in a day it is performed will cause an impression of
energy which we will find in Residuals haunts..

If you run into a location that has Residual activity do not be afraid. Again, this is not an intelligent haunt or spirit. It is harmless. The spirits and activity
do not react to humans.
Intelligent Haunting:
Unlike a Residual, an intelligent haunting is not very common. In fact, finding proof of an intelligent spirit is pretty rare.

If you are lucky enough to find a location haunted by an intelligent entity you will notice that they will interact with you. They may answer your questions,
move objects, touch you and make noise at your request among other things. It is my belief that the personality of this entity will depend on their
personality in life. If they were an angry person, they may be an angry spirit and so forth. It would be good to feel your way around the situation before
you decide to antagonize or taunt an intelligent spirit. I would advise you not to taunt, instead interact with them as if they were alive, with respect.

When dealing with an intelligent spirit, be it in an investigation or in your home, you will find it can be a bit of a nuisance. Intelligent spirits will try to get
your attention. You may find that doors are opening or closing by themselves, objects being moved, lights being turned on, etc. You may also feel a
cool chill known as cold spots and more than likely you will feel the presence of the spirit.

There are many theories as to why Intelligent spirits stick around. Some think they may need your help in crossing over, delivering messages, or
maybe just lonely.

If you are finding that the spirit is interacting with you, you are more than likely encountering an intelligent haunting and you will need to proceed as if
speaking to a live person when speaking to them. Trigger questions would be helpful in obtaining evidence of an intelligent haunt. You will need to
research the history in order to ask these questions. When you do have the history, the trigger questions will have to do with the spirit's personal life
and history.

Do's & Don'ts:
There are many misconceptions and mistakes being made while conducting an investigation, below are some of our Do's and Don'ts in Paranormal
Investigating.

Do have an open mind
Do keep notes of experiences (time, feelings, etc.)
Do be respectful of Spirits - they were once in physical form and who's to say they don't experience the same emotions after death.
Do your research - having the history of the place can help assist you trigger interaction.
Do bring extra batteries - you won't believe how many battery drainages you will have.
Do bring a flashlight

Don't investigate by yourself
Don't jump to conclusions -
evidence should be the deal maker.
Don't trespass - be sure to get permission to investigate, if public place, stay within the business hours stated.
Don't investigate under the influence - some think if you are a little high you will be more open, NOT TRUE, it can actually hurt you mentally as well as
physically. Don't be an idiot!!
Don't smoke - walk away from the investigation site if you can't hold off. This can create false visual evidence.
